Terms of Use

Retire Slider is a free educational planning tool. Its projections are hypothetical output from a computer model, generated from figures you enter — not a prediction, promise or guarantee of your actual results. Simulated and past performance does not guarantee future results. Consult a qualified financial, tax or legal professional before acting on anything you see here.

1. Acceptance

Before first use, Retire Slider asks you to agree to these Terms of Use and records the dated Terms version in local app or browser storage. If you do not agree, do not use the Tool. The Tool is offered free of charge, with no account and no payment, and we may modify, suspend or discontinue it at any time without notice.

2. No advisory relationship

Retire Slider is a general educational tool. Yellow Sun Systems LLC is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, tax preparer, accountant, actuary or law firm, is not acting in a fiduciary capacity toward you, and receives no compensation from you or from any product issuer. Nothing produced by this Tool is a recommendation to buy, sell, hold or withdraw from any security, account or investment. Using the Tool does not create an advisory, brokerage, accounting, tax-preparation or fiduciary relationship of any kind.

3. Nature of the output

Results are produced by a Monte Carlo simulation over randomly generated return paths. The simulation is seeded from your inputs, so running the same inputs again reproduces the same numbers — but that reproducibility is not accuracy. The result remains one finite sample of random paths, and a different sample would land differently. Hypothetical performance has inherent limitations: it represents no actual investment, reflects no advisory fees or trading costs, benefits from hindsight in the choice of assumptions, and does not consider your complete financial circumstances. The model omits factors listed under "What the model does not include" on the Tool's Model & Tax Rules page, any of which could materially change the outcome.

4. Tax figures

Federal tax, Medicare/IRMAA and federal estate figures apply United States federal law as enacted for tax year 2026 (IRS Rev. Proc. 2025-32, post-OBBBA), inflation-indexed forward within the projection. State income tax uses a full graduated schedule for California, New York, Hawaii and Oregon, and a documented single effective-rate approximation for every other state; local income tax is omitted. Details are on the Model & Tax Rules page. They are estimates, not tax advice, and are not a substitute for a tax return or a tax professional. The Tool does not model future legislation, the alternative minimum tax, or credits, deductions and elections specific to you. Rates, IRMAA tiers and exemption amounts are subject to change by Congress, the IRS, CMS and the states.

5. Your data

The figures you enter are processed entirely in your browser and are never transmitted to us. They are saved only in browser or app storage on your own device (and, on iPhone, in your own iCloud backup if you have it on). Exports and email you send are described in the Privacy Policy. You control the live copy: use Clear Data… in the Tool's menu, which erases the saved plan and any scenarios along with it. Our server has access logging switched off, so it writes no record of your requests; the network in front of it, run by our hosting provider, may keep short-lived operational logs of connections under its own policy, as the Privacy Policy sets out. The Tool uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts, and we do not sell or share personal information. The About box in the Tool's menu links the full detail. Files you export (PDF Report, File Save) contain your full profile, including any names you entered — you are responsible for where you store or send them.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use the Tool to provide financial, tax or investment advice to others as if it were your own analysis; do not present its output as a professional projection, certification or guarantee; do not attempt to interfere with, overload or gain unauthorized access to the service; and do not copy, modify or redistribute the source code except as permitted by the LICENSE. The Tool is not directed to children under 13.

7. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Yellow Sun Systems LLC disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that any calculation, tax figure, probability or projection is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for your situation.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Yellow Sun Systems LLC and its members, officers and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, savings, investment return, data or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of or reliance on this tool or any report it generates, whether based in contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability or otherwise, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the tool will not exceed one hundred US dollars ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages, so parts of sections 7 and 8 may not apply to you.

9. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Yellow Sun Systems LLC from any claim brought by a third party arising out of your use of the Tool or your distribution of any report it generates.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws rules, and the state and federal courts located in King County, Washington will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that either party may seek relief in small claims court. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect.

11. Intellectual property

Retire Slider and its source code are © 2026 Yellow Sun Systems LLC, all rights reserved, and are made available for reference and review only. Third-party components are licensed separately — see below.

12. Changes to these Terms

If these Terms change, the date at the top of this page changes with them and the amended version is published here and in the app, which ships its own copy. A materially changed version requires a new in-app agreement before continued use; if you do not accept it, stop using the Tool and delete the app. A change that materially reduces your rights — a new limitation of liability, a new dispute-resolution requirement, or a change in governing law or forum — will be described in plain words at the top of this page for at least 30 days rather than made quietly.
